The head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim, said that blocking streets or appealing to the Cabinet of Ministers over the power outage in Mykolaiv region is inappropriate and will not yield any results. According to him, the problem is caused primarily by the destruction of the energy infrastructure, not by managerial decisions or manual regulation.

He said this during a session of the Mykolaiv City Council, according to NikVesti.

According to Vitaliy Kim, last year the situation with electricity in Mykolaiv region was more stable, as the lines transporting electricity to the west of the country were damaged, while now the networks delivering electricity from the west to the southern regions have been destroyed.

«To appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers is to show our lack of professionalism... Yes, there are certain distortions in the Ukrainian system, but this is not because someone is regulating it with their hands. It's because it's impossible. There is generation, but it cannot be transferred to the eastern or southern parts. No one sits idly», said Vitalii Kim.

He also said that some repairs to the power grids are expected to be completed next week, after which the situation with electricity should improve.

«Some repairs should be completed next week. The situation should improve. But winter is just beginning. We have to prepare for the whole winter. There are problems with electricity, but blocking the roads is not a solution. It does not help, it hinders.» Mykolaiv's system has survived and we need to focus on how to help our Air Force, not block the streets,» he adds.

It should be noted that recently people in different cities of Ukraine have started protesting against power cuts and blocking roads. Such an action took place in Chornomorsk, Odesa region. People claimed that the distribution of power outages was unfair. DTEK Odesa Power Grids responded to the situation and assured that the same principles of blackout schedules are applied in the city as in the entire region.

Earlier, Vitalii Kim, Head of Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, explained the reasons for the long power outages in the region, despite the presence of the South Ukrainian NPP. According to him, a significant portion of the electricity generated is transferred to other regions of the country.

As a reminder, local residents of Pivdennoukrainsk complained at the session about long power outages, while the city has no alternative energy sources. In this regard, the mayor sent official letters to the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, Ukrenergo and Mykolaiv Regional State Administration asking them to grant Pivdennoukrainsk the status of a «high security facility» and take into account the lack of gas supply.

However, the city authorities received a response that granting Pivdennoukrainsk «special conditions» would be considered discrimination against other consumers.

Recently, the regional power company said that in Mykolaiv region, during the last month, during the hourly outage schedules, consumers of all queues were left without electricity for almost the same duration. On average, Mykolaiv residents were without power for 218 to 220 hours.

In turn, the Government of Ukraine has approved a number of decisions aimed at reducing electricity consumption and shortening the duration of hourly power outages for the population.
