The mayor of Mykolaiv, Oleksandr Sienkevych, commented on the reasons for the postponement of the city council session. He explained that it was due to a large number of official events and the fact that the budget commission had not met.

He said this in a comment to the correspondent of NikVesti.

Last week, the mayor adjourned the meeting until 4 December. Tomorrow, the deputies were supposed to consider the reallocation of funds in the budget for 2025 to unblock spending on unprotected budget items.

In particular, the postponement of the session was influenced by the holidays that will take place this week.

«Firstly, there are a lot of different events that coincide. Volunteer Day, Local Government Day, various visits of different people,» said the mayor.

But the main reason was the disruption of the work of Fedir Panchenko's budget commission, which was supposed to consider changes to the budget.

«The budget commission did not meet today. For me, this is the most important thing, because it is a matter of salaries, benefits, and utility payments,» said Oleksandr Sienkevych.

The mayor called on the deputies to take their responsibilities more responsibly in order to pass power to the next convocation «beautiful».

«I do not manage them, they are people who do not get paid for what they do. I urge them to get together, work, and make changes. They are not small children, each of them should be guided by the interests of the city, not their own. Recently, one of the deputies said that we have served our five years. We should be working, not sitting around. The Verkhovna Rada has extended our term, and we have to work efficiently to the end and hand over power to the next convocation. And do it, as they say, beautifully,» he added.
