Odesa region is among the regions with the highest number of complaints about violations of language legislation.

This was reported by Taras Kremin, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, in an interview with «Glavkom».

He noted that in the first half of 2025, 1431 appeals were received regarding language violations. Most complaints came from Kyiv, followed by Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Donetsk regions.

«Take, for example, our statistics for the first half of 2025. During this time, the language commissioner received 1431 appeals from different regions of Ukraine. Most of them are from Kyiv, followed by Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Donetsk regions», said Taras Kremin.

According to him, Kyiv is not only among the leaders in terms of the number of violations, but also demonstrates a high level of language awareness, which is why citizens are actively complaining. He added that most violations are recorded in online shopping, advertising and signage, as well as in the service sector.

«This is a matter of state language policy, culture and family upbringing. There is also an unwillingness to change even in the face of genocide against the Ukrainian people, as well as the fact that the law on language does not apply to private communication. But the main thing is the lack of a modern, offensive, competitive language policy against Russian propaganda», said Taras Kremin.

As a reminder, since the beginning of 2025, local budgets have received about 200,000 hryvnias in fines for violations of language legislation.
