48 beaches are being prepared for opening: this is twice as many as last year in Odesa region

This year, 48 beaches are planned to be opened to the public in Odesa region. Experts are currently checking them for the availability and accessibility of shelters.

This was announced by the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, on the TV channel «Rada».

«Today we are taking preparatory measures to be ready for the opening of the season. What do we mean by that? This is a safety check: there should be shelters, areas and places where people would be safe. You know that everything that comes from the sea goes through our region. Therefore, the safety of people is very, very important,» he said.

«I think that this is the number that should be there. Because last year it was about 20 beaches, but other businesses and other utilities are also preparing. Of course, I would like to see as many as possible, because people go to the sea and when the beach is tested and inspected, we understand that they are safe. This will close most of the coast and more people will be safe,» added Oleh Kiper.

As you know, in 2024, the beach season in Odesa region opened on 8 June. There were 20 locations available for swimming. On 17 March 2025, preparations for the swimming season started in Odesa region. Utilities and businesses have a month and a half to take the necessary measures.
