150 meters from the Russians: a military man from Mykolaiv talked about his participation in the defense of Luhansk region

Military serviceman from Mykolaiv Mykhailo spoke about his experience of service in Donbas, where his unit defended only 150 meters from Russian positions.
The story about the soldier was published on the official page of the Mykolaiv Regional Territorial Center for Staffing and Social Support.
He joined the army at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, but did not receive a combat assignment until six months later.
«Our task was to advance to Serebrianske Forestry. This place became a real battlefield for us,» he recalls.
In close combat, Mykhailo experienced many dangerous moments, because the positions were located so close to each other that the soldiers could even hear each other. Mykhailo says that their positions were 150-200 meters from the positions of the Russian military.
«We could even hear each other, we could even shout over each other. We shout «Glory to Ukraine!» receiving profanity in return. Likewise, they shouted at us «surrender if you want» all the time,» says the man.
Mykhailo notes that, despite the danger, such proximity to the enemy sometimes gave its advantages.
«Heavy weapons of the enemy. We didn't feel it that way. It flew, everything flew through us, as they were afraid to hit their own,» says Mykhailo.
One day, the man witnessed one of the Russian soldiers independently enter their positions.
«He was without a machine gun, without a bulletproof vest. He didn't even understand where he got to. With the phrase «Do you have some water?,» he went straight to the position,» recalls the soldier.
During one of the shellings, a Russian mine flew into Mykhailo's trench. He was seriously injured. The man recalls that after the explosion he felt a sharp pain in his leg and realized that he could not stand up. After a long rehabilitation, Mykhailo decided to return to the service, but in a different role.
«I was already engaged in providing for my comrades, my unit, to set up and take out the kit, food products,» says Mykhailo.
Later, the military medical commission found the man to be of limited fitness. Therefore, he decided to continue his service at the Mykolaiv Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
