In Mykolaiv, work continues on the creation of a single perinatal center. Starting next year, they plan to equip an office there and install equipment for conducting mammographic examinations for women.

Lyudmila Chinyakova, head of the maternity and childhood health care department of the Mykolaiv City Council's health care department, told about this in the «Dialogue» program on the MART TV channel.

She noted that the perinatal center for newborns is at the stage of creation, doctors are currently undergoing training. According to her, the center can start working as early as next year.

«A perinatal center of the second level is being created. It will include modern equipment. Specialists of the future perinatal center are trained so that we can be at the level of international standards and provide care to newborns who were born prematurely and have a low weight. They will not need to be transferred to the regional hospital. All conditions will be created in this institution. Also, a mammology department will be created in this institution — this is a problem for our women. A mammograph has already been purchased, and the premises for this department are being prepared. I think that it will work next year,» said Liudmyla Chyniakova.

She also explained that the problem is that it is now possible to undergo a mammogram examination only at the Mykolaiv Regional Oncology Clinic.

«We have a desire to provide assistance to the women of the city and the region in the conditions of a modern perinatal center. The device has already been purchased, the room will be prepared and installed next year,» Liudmyla Chyniakova added.

We remind that in December 2021, it became known that in Mykolaiv, on the basis of maternity hospital No. 3, the room for children's resuscitation is being renovated. It is still necessary to purchase special equipment and equip an intensive care unit for newborns.

In May 2023, the Mykolaiv Department of Health Care assured that today the city is confidently moving towards the formation of a perinatal center. Currently, funds have already been allocated from the budget for the implementation of priority works.

Also, in Mykolaiv, they are working on the creation of a children's diagnostic center, which involves an institution where all the necessary equipment and specialists will be assembled for a complete medical examination of children.
