The Mykolaiv Zoo asks colleagues from Europe for a gas apparatus for performing operations on animals

The Mykolaiv Zoo intends to ask the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums for a gas device for animal operations.

The deputy of the city council and the director of the Mykolaiv Zoo, Volodymyr Topchyi, told about this in the program at the MART TV channel.

He noted that international partners can no longer help Ukrainian zoos financially. It was proposed to draw up a list of the necessary equipment and types of feed that could be provided by the zoo association.

— There was a meeting with a representative of EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA), — note), which is involved in fundraising. They said that there are no such funds as last year and they cannot help us with money. If help is needed, they were told to write what types of dry feed are needed or what equipment. Last Thursday, we met with the directors of zoos of Ukraine, a list of what is needed will be prepared, — he said.

Volodymyr Topchyi noted that they want to ask only for special operating equipment.

— We want to ask only for a gas device for immobilizing animals during operations. We don't have it, it's expensive. We talked to Drohobych Zoo, they want to get an incubator. I don't know if we can ask for that. Feed is a primary necessity, because winter is coming, — adds the director of the zoo.

We remind that international partners helped the Mykolaiv Zoo to accumulate certain savings in order to be able to continue working in case of withdrawal of money from the city budget.

Earlier it was reported that the Mykolaiv Zoo collected about 3 million hryvnias from the sale of entrance tickets around the world via the Internet.

Last year, the Prague Zoo sent a diesel generator to the Mykolaiv Zoo.
