He said this in an interview with Politico.
Donald Trump stressed that «a long time has passed» since the previous presidential election. He also believes that the current government is using the war to avoid a government reset.
«Yes, I think it's time. I think it's an important time to hold elections. They are using the war to avoid holding elections, but I think the Ukrainian people... should have this choice. And maybe Zelenskyy would win,» the US president said.
According to Donald Trump, the situation in the Ukrainian state «is now reaching the point where it is no longer a democracy».
As a reminder, in October, the Verkhovna Rada passed a decision on the continuity of local councils and mayors in wartime.
