European states are negotiating the possibility of introducing a «no-fly zone» over Ukraine to allow commercial flights to resume safely.

The Telegraph writes about this.

According to the newspaper, the scheme could be implemented in stages: first, over the western regions, and later, as security and confidence in any ceasefire agreements are strengthened, to cover other regions of the country.

The reopening of air traffic is expected to be an important factor in economic recovery and investment, as well as to help Ukrainian refugees return home more quickly.

Initially, the mission will involve the use of Western fighter jets and air defence systems to patrol the skies and protect airports, particularly in Lviv and western Ukraine.

The area of operation may then be extended to Kyiv and other major cities.

Earlier, NikVesti reported that 13 million euros were needed to restore Mykolaiv airport, which was destroyed at the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
