This was announced during a briefing by Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Research Centre, according to Ukrinform.

In his opinion, the heating infrastructure is most at risk, especially in cities located close to the frontline.

«The biggest danger, in my opinion, is possible attacks on heating facilities. Where cities are located close enough to the contact line, this may well happen,» said Kharchenko.

Kryvyi Rih, Sumy, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Odesa are currently at risk, where preparations for winter «should be made with triple energy».

«Unfortunately, we can say that there are cities in high-risk areas that are not ready, including Kryvyi Rih, where last year more than 450 houses were left without heating and there is a good chance that they will be left without heating this year. There are other high-risk cities, such as Sumy, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, because no one can stop these serious missile attacks and there is a high-risk zone there,» the expert added.

He stressed that local authorities should already provide backup power to heat supply facilities and prepare backup heat supply schemes in case of emergencies.

Earlier, Ukrainians were urged to prepare for possible power cuts in autumn.
