The municipal enterprise «Mykolaivpastrans» managed to overcome the shortage of drivers on its routes over the year, which allowed it to significantly increase the number of buses on city routes.

This was announced by the director of the utility Dmytro Teslenko during a live broadcast.

According to the official, 2025 was a year of development for the company, as it managed to overcome the most painful problem — the shortage of staff.

«A year ago, we had a catastrophic shortage of drivers. For example, in the summer of '24, there were only 54 of them. Today, we have 97 drivers. This is the result of the joint work of our team, the staff of the Mykolaiv City Council, the support of the mayor, the employment centre, and journalists. And, of course, thanks to social media and dissemination,» the official said.

He noted that after overcoming the staff shortage, the number of buses on city routes has increased — now there are 38 vehicles running daily, while last summer there were only 21.

«In the first nine months of 2015, 7 million 714 thousand passengers used our buses. This is a very large figure, which already reaches the figure for the whole of 2024,» said Dmytro Teslenko.

The director of KP «Mykolaivpastrans» also said that a new minibus route to the Velyka Korenyha neighbourhood is planned to be launched in the near future. This route was supposed to be launched back in August, but it did not happen. The utility company later explained that the vehicles were used to transport schoolchildren.

Earlier, NikVesti wrote that the MP accused the Mykolaiv authorities of overpaying for Turkish buses instead of supporting Ukrainian manufacturers.
