Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans has announced that the country will allocate 150 million euros to strengthen Ukraine's air defence.

He said this during his speech before a meeting of the Contact Group at NATO headquarters, reports «Ukrinform».

Ruben Brekelmans noted that air defence is one of the top priorities, as President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasised this week due to the intensification of air attacks. He also underlined the continuation of the delivery of F-16s and recalled the €500 million already announced for the drone project, which is critical for Ukraine.

«Today we are also announcing an additional €150 million for an air defence system that will help Ukraine defend its skies», the minister added.

According to him, this project is being implemented in cooperation with the UK. Brekelmans also reminded that the Netherlands has recently allocated €3.5 billion to support Ukraine, of which €2 billion will be disbursed this year.

The minister stressed the importance of strengthening Ukraine's position on the battlefield to give it an advantage in the negotiations.

As a reminder, Ukraine will receive another batch of military aid worth £450 million (about $589 million). The bulk of the funding — 350 million pounds — is provided by the United Kingdom, and the rest will be covered by Norway through the International Fund for Ukraine.
