30 million hryvnias have been allocated for the zoo from the Mykolaiv budget, and they have another 30 million hryvnias in a reserve account.

This was reported by the head of the culture department of the Mykolaiv City Council, Yurii Liubarov, NikVesti writes.

According to Yurii Liubarov, the zoo first of all asked to allocate more than 60 million hryvnias for 2024. Last year, the zoo received significant financial assistance from abroad, and these funds remained in the institution's accounts. Currently, it has reserve funds in the amount of at least 30 million hryvnias, which can be used in case of emergency.

«In 2022, the zoo received a lot of help from abroad. And the zoo kept these funds in its accounts. And today, if there is not enough funding, there is always a reserve. We are not worried about it this year. Somewhere there are at least 30 million hryvnias of reserve funds, which the zoo has kept since 2022, and if something is missing, we hope that the animals will be fed. Indeed, the zoo stated in the budget request that they need more than 60 million hryvnias for support. They received 31 million hryvnias in 2024 — half of the required amount,» said Yurii Liubarov.

We will remind that the Mykolaiv Zoo reported that the animals are starving due to an unscrupulous supplier who won the tender for the purchase of fodder.

We previously wrote that the Mykolaiv Zoo will spend over 6 million hryvnias on animal feed for 2024.
